Google and Meta Open-Source TorchTPU as Native PyTorch Backend for Cloud TPUs
Google and Meta have released TorchTPU, a native PyTorch backend designed for Cloud TPUs that replaces PyTorch/XLA for new workloads. Operating with eager execution by default while supporting compilation through torch.compile and XLA, the project aims to streamline and accelerate machine learning workflows across advanced hardware infrastructure.
