Google Releases Public SynthID Detector as AI Watermarks Cover 180 Billion Files
Google has made its SynthID AI watermarking detector publicly available, allowing anyone to verify if media files were created by Google or partner models like OpenAI and Nvidia. Over 180 billion digital assets currently carry the invisible watermark. While this provides unprecedented transparency, the tool is limited to detecting SynthID-tagged content rather than all AI-generated media.
