MIT Engineers Develop Recyclable Thermoplastic Yarn to Tackle Textile Waste

MIT engineers have created a new thermoplastic yarn designed to replace conventional elastic blends of spandex, polyester, and nylon, which are notoriously difficult to recycle. With the average American discarding 81 pounds of clothing annually, this innovative material could drastically reduce staggering textile waste levels by offering a truly circular lifecycle for everyday apparel and garments.
